This stunning natural pool sits at the heart of a new garden for a newly built farmhouse. Designed as the focal point of the property, with outstanding views across the water out to the Cleveland Hills beyond.
A natural pool utilising living pool filtration to maximise swimming space and create the feel of swimming in the middle of a landscape.
With a 70 m2 swim zone surrounded by a generous regeneration zone full of beautiful water plants, this characterful natural pool is filtered using Biotop's living pool technology, stored neatly away under the sundeck.
The swimming area is 10m long, with a gently shelving beach that extends the pool lengthways and was designed especially for our client's grandchildren to play amongst the boulders, which we hand picked from a local quarry. The deep end is 2.00m deep, good for diving in from the deck, and the same deck links to a paved living area with a pool room and outdoor cooking space for entertaining.
We are really pleased with the stone steps - carved especially for us by the quarry owner from the same stone seam as Whitby Abbey, and installed by us into the pool to form a wonderful transition from the beach to the shallow end. The shallow beach is also planted with fragrant water mint, which releases a wonderful aroma as you brush past it to enter the pool.
The riven stone coping works well with these steps and including stone and boulders in the pool helps with natural thermal gain.
Working for a discerning architect and a keen gardener brought all our skills in pool and plant design together and we look forward to seeing this project develop, as the garden is completed around the pool.
