We designed this natural pool for clients who are passionate about sustainability and ecology. For them, the benefits of a natural pool went beyond swimming—they were just as excited about the wildlife it would attract.
They envisioned a peaceful retreat to celebrate their retirement, a destination for family gatherings, and a functional space for fitness.
The pool was designed with family in mind, including features like a small pool house and an adjacent bowls pitch for outdoor fun.
A filtered beach sits opposite the deck, providing the perfect spot for our clients to relax and watch their grandchildren play in the water while swallows dip into the shallow, sun-warmed waters.
While they wanted a pool that felt natural, the clients preferred a more formal shape. We created a rectangular swim zone measuring 15 by 4 meters, surrounded by an L-shaped regeneration zone that wraps around the pool. A decked walkway runs along one side, leading to the pool house.
To enhance the atmosphere, we added a water boulder that sends gentle ripples across the surface and creates the soothing sound of bubbling water.
One of the most exciting aspects of this project has been the impact on local wildlife. Their pool has become a regular stop for a kingfisher that perches on the jetty, and hosts an incredible number of dragonflies.
The pool has not only provided a relaxing space for the family but also hugely boosted biodiversity, which our clients are thrilled about!
